Most executive teams have experienced how a strong personality can hijack a meeting, erode trust, ruin the team dynamic and destroy collaboration among colleagues. Sometimes executives start responding to increasing stress loads in ways that offend their colleagues and erode trust and morale. Often, the executive is unaware of how their behavior is negatively impacting relationships, reducing productivity and destroying a team's collaboration. The impact can even be far more devastating on subordinates.

Many companies tolerate this kind of a situation because it's often too difficult to address internally. Complicating matters, the fact may be that the offending executive is a top producer in other areas, so a decision is made to ignore the behavior or tread gently around the issue. Predictably, things get worse until a breaking point is reached: a claim against the executive, an investigation or a team that leaves en-masse.
